CSS

With a raucous live show, outrageous vixens & insane antic CSS brings the party & starts the riot!!

São Paulo, Brazil's provocative, freewheeling dance-rock sextet CSS takes its name from an abbreviation of "cansei de ser sexy," which is Portuguese for "tired of being sexy" (though, considering that the lead singer goes by the name Lovefoxxx, it's arguable how much that phrase actually applies to the band).

.

CSS also includes bassist Iracema Trevisan, guitarist/drummer/keyboardist Luiza Sá, guitarist Ana Rezende, guitarist/drummer Carolina Parra, and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Adriano Cintra (also a member of Thee Butchers' Orchestra). The band formed in 2003, after meeting at clubs and through Internet social-networking groups such as Fotolog and Trama Virtual, and began crafting their unique but unpretentious sound through trial and error. CSS' net-savvy ways led to the group becoming a phenomenon on the Web; their extensively downloaded songs eventually caught the attention of more traditional media in Brazil and Europe. The band released two EPs on their own in 2004, Em Rotterdam Ja e uma Febre and A Onda Mortal/Uma Tarde com PJ, before signing to Trama Virtual in 2005. That fall, their debut album, Cansei de Ser Sexy, was released in Brazil, along with a bonus EP, CSS SUXXX. The members of CSS also used their other talents to forge the band's distinctive image: Lovefoxxx and Parra are graphic designers, Trevisan is a fashion designer, Rezende is a film student (and directed the video for the song "Off the Hook"), while Sá attends art school. Early in 2006, Sub Pop signed the band and the label released Cansei de Ser Sexy in North America that summer

The Go! Team

They left us screaming for more with a blazing performance with Sonic Youth at The Pabst, now The Go! Team returns!

The Go! Team is a six-piece group from Brighton, England, whose sound is a stunning blend of indie rock guitars, police show themes, hip-hop beats, and schoolyard chants built on samples and then augmented by live instrumentation. The founder and leader of the team is Ian Parton, who provides guitar and sculpts their sound.

The rest of the group includes Sam Dook on guitar, banjo, and drums, Chi "Ky" Fukami Taylor on drums, Jaime Bell on bass, Ninja on vocals, and Kaori Tsuchida on drums, guitar, keyboards, and melodica. Their first release, 2000's Get It Together, was primarily a solo effort by Parton that gained support from John Peel and others, but legal problems prevented a timely follow up. By the time of 2003's Junior Kickstart single, the group had been assembled (and included Silke Steidinger, who was left in fall of 2005) and signed to Memphis Industries. Thunder, Lightning, Strike was released in 2004 and quickly became a sensation in the U.K., where it was nominated for the Mercury Prize, and in the U.S. where the band became an MP3 blog darling. A bidding war ensued in the U.S., with Columbia winning, but before the album could gain release, many of the samples had to be replaced (which didn't affect the quality of the record at all). The group followed up the album with two U.K. singles, 2005's Bottle Rocket and 2006's Lady Flash, and extensive world touring.
